Last week, the meeting for ex-trainees of JICA Vietnam was held in Sofitel Plaza hotel, Hanoi. About 300 people attended the meeting that lasted more than 3 hours. At first, the chairman of JICA Vietnam ex-trainees association gave the speech to open the meeting. Then, Monotori-san, head of JICA Vietnam in Hanoi had his own opinion on the relationship between Vietnam and Japan. There were some other activities else and at the end, we had a party where sushi, Japanese, European, Asian and American foods were available.
I heard that in Zambia, they have the same meeting every year, but Im not sure about other countries. Im sure it will be the most exciting meeting in Mexico because you were the biggest and united group in Japan.
What was behind the scene was not so interesting. I felt a little bit sad on the way back, when I compared the number of JICA Vietnam's trainees to 2.5 million Vietnamese people died of the starvation in 1945, caused by Japanese fascist. No matter how deep I know that we've never had a perfect comparison, I still felt sorry for our painful past. Ofcourse we can not undo the history, or we can not relive the past, but when can I delete all sorrow memories? who knows? and I think no need to forget it because "revise the old in order to know the new". I was not in a good mood to take pic on that meeting, but still had some pics to share with you. I hope all of you will have the same meeting in your own countries.
P/s: I miss you all

ResponderEliminarNeither in Spain there are ex-trainees meetings, as unfortunately JICA is not offering their fellowships here. :( Otherwise I would recommend this experience to everyone. But I'm glad to know that you had the chance to meet other fiends again, dear Hoan.
ResponderEliminarSome days ago I talked to Tony, and he suggested that we should do a new Skype-group-talk as we have done sometimes. So take it in mind, it would be lovely meeting there (at least this way, by the moment) ;) Just suggest day and time. Gambatte kudasai!
