Japan 2010 (cont.)

Hola amigos! Copio algunas entradas de mi blog para compartirlas aquí con quienes no tengo agregados en Facebook (o no lo miran mucho).
Hi my friends! I'm copying some entries from my blog, so that I can share these pictures with those of you whom I haven't added in Facebook (or those who don't connect Facebook very often :P).

Pesca con cormorán - Cormorant fishing - Ukai

La pesca con cormorán (Ukai) es una de las atracciones turísticas más famosas de Inuyama. Como visita cultural del congreso, nos llevaron a una exhibición en el río Kiso, que incluía un aperitivo a bordo de los botes. Una experiencia muy interesante! El siguiente álbum recoge algunas de las fotos de este evento.

Cormorant fishing (Ukai) is one of most typical tourist attractions in Inuyama. As part of the cultural program of the Meeting, we assisted to an exhibition on the Miso river, including typical dinner on board of the boats. It was a very interesting experience! The following Picasa album collects some pictures of this event.

Hase sensei's birthday party

Nos invitaron a la fiesta de cumpleaños del Profesor Hase en Osaka (mi sensei). Se celebró en el hotel Senri Chuo y asistieron todas las personas que han trabajado con él. Muchos asistentes pronunciaron unos breves discursos, al parecer de homenaje, también hubo una entrega de regalos y una cena buffet estupenda, en la terraza de la piscina del hotel. Para mí lo mejor fue el reencuentro con los compañeros del laboratorio y del Instituto. He aquí algunas fotos de los oradores del homenaje, la entrega de regalos y de los amigos.

We were invited to Hase sensei's birthday party, in Senri Chuo, Osaka. It was held by the swimming pool of an hotel, and people attending were all people who had worked with him. Buffet dinner was great, but the best thing for me was the reunion with my former lab and Institute mates. We are showing some pictures of the tribute speeches, presents-giving, and friends. Lovely!

Después de la fiesta el Prof. Hase nos llevó a dar una vuelta por el centro de Osaka, a tomar café en las cafeterías de los rascacielos y a conocer los pasajes del metro abarrotados de gente toda la noche. Aquí os dejamos unas cuantas fotos que tomamos durante este paseo.

After the party, Hase sensei drove us in a walk downtown in Osaka. We had a coffee at the top of skyscrapers and also met the crowded subways. Here you can see some pictures we took during this walk.

Nara once again

Al día siguiente, domingo, fuimos a Nara de nuevo, esta vez con los compañeros españoles. Inevitable hacer más fotos de los ciervos sagrados, de los visitantes alimentándolos, del Todai-ji, del Gran Buda, del Nigatsu-dō y hasta de la comida. Espero que os guste ver todo de nuevo como me gustó a mí!

The morning after we visited Nara again, but with the Spanish mates this time. I couldn't help taking more pictures of the sacred deers, visitors feeding them, Todai-ji, the Big Buddah, Nigatsu-dō, and even the food. I hope you enjoy it again as I did!

Nagoya Station

En la última noche que pasé en Japón tuve un par de experiencias muy interesantes: la primera de ellas fue tratar con algunos nativos encantadores (es lo que quería contar ahora), y la segunda fue pasar la noche en un hotel cápsula (que dejaré para otra entrada).

Pregunté a unos chicos japoneses por el tren que debía tomar para ir al aeropuerto, y me la indicaron primero con bastante dificultad. Quise invitar al chico que me ayudó a tomer una cerveza, pero rechazó la invitación alegando que no era necesario que se lo agradeciera así. Traté de explicarle que no era sólo en agradecimiento, sino porque de verdad me apetecía tomar algo y dar una vuelta en Nagoya antes de marcharme para el aeropuerto, pero no nos entendíamos bien. Intervino espontáneamente una chica que pasaba, que hablaba un inglés perfecto, preguntando si podía ayudarnos como intérprete. Terminamos tomando los tres unos yakitoris y unas cervezas en un izakaya de la estación y luego un helado que compramos en un konbini de la plaza. ¡Un rato encantador!

Cuando me despedí de ellos pensaba pasar la noche en el aeropuerto, pero otra chica nagoyana super amable me preguntó en el andén que si iba al aeropuerto, y que a qué hora era mi vuelo; y preguntó porque el aeropuerto lo cerraban, y tendría que pasar la noche o bien en el hotel aledaño al aeropuerto de Chubu (por unos 9000 yenes), o más conveniente, ya que tenía el tícket de tren, en algún hotel barato de los alrededores de la próxima estación de Kanayama. Como me apetecía haber probado la experiencia del hotel cápsula y también haber tomado más fotos del paisaje nocturno de Nagoya, me quedé en uno de estos locales. A quienes vengáis a Japón alguna vez, ¡os lo recomiendo mucho!

During the last night I spent in Japan, I had two very interesting experiences. First one was having dinner with some lovely people from Nagoya (which I would like to tell you now), and second one was staying one night in a capsule hotel.

I asked to a Japanese young couple in Nagoya station about the train to the Airport, and they gave me very useful help with some difficulty in speaking English. The girl left, but I wanted to invite the boy to have a beer. He rejected it saying that it was not needed to invite him in appreciation for his help. I tried to explain that it was not only as a way to say thanks, but also I would like to talk to someone Japanese for a while and enjoy a beer or a ramen, before going to the airport. As it was hard to understand each other, another Japanese girl was so kind to take part offering to translate our words to each one. She spoke a perfect English, and in fact her assistance was very useful. Finally we all went together to an izakaya and had some yakitoris and drinks, and then an ice-cram we bought in a konbini near the Station. It was lovely!

When I said goodbye to them, I went to the train platform, and another Japanese girl asked me if I was going to the airport, and what time my flight was leaving at. I told her that my plans were to go and stay at the airport until the next morning, and she told me that it was not allowed staying in the airport. She suggested that I could go to Kanayama station and stay in one of the cheap hotels in the surroundings, instead the one next to the airport, which was quite expensive. So I did! This way I could experience the capsule hotel and I could have a walk in Kanayama district too. I you are ever travelling to Japan, I recommend this kind of accomodations very much! Desde esta esquina se ve la entrada al hotel cápsula donde me quedé esta noche (Capsule Inn Nagoya New Grand). Pero antes de irme a dormir me di una vuelta por la avenida y tomé unas pocas fotos más. Señorita de piedra frente al Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Universidad de Chukyo:

Y finalmente las fotos por las que más me han preguntado mis amigos: el hotel-cápsula! Tacháaaan! Es más cómodo de lo que os imagináis: espacioso, con aire acondicionado, luz regulable, televisión y radio (hay que usar los auriculares, por supuesto, para no molestar a los vecinos).

And finally the pictures my friends were most curious about: the capsule hotel! Tadaaaaaa! It was more comfortable than expected, and lots of facilities were available.

Y mirad, seguían poniendo los partidos de España en el mundial! Ahí está el Niño Torres.

And this was funny, they were still showing Spain matches in the World Cup! Torres the Kid on the screen:
